This is just a quick note to make a statement:
I am never again going to miss the Vogue pattern sales at Joann's; I have done it for the last time. Once again, I missed the sale by just a couple of days (last week). And me with my list of the few Vogue patterns I wanted to—at the very least—take a closer look at.
I don't know how I'm going to do it, I just know that I am going to do it.
Just because I have now made a second pair of pants with my Sure-Fit Designs pants blueprint (happy, happy me) and I am in the process of making a woven, short-sleeve top with my Sure-Fit Designs bodice blueprint (happy, happy me)—doesn't mean that I don't
Now, if you happen to know that someone else already has this figured out, please let me know. Because I don't need the satisfaction of putting this information together myself. I just need it! So if there's a link I could click at any day and time and see when the upcoming pattern sales are, that would most definitely work for me.
I have a feeling that there is a system to their pattern sales madness, and I am going to learn it, one way or another. And, of course, I'm going to share it here.
That is all, for now.
Update: I went to Joann's for something else and as I passed the pattern cabinet, I saw a sign: Thursday to Saturday, July 25-27 Vogue Patterns $3.99. So now I'm looking at the current ad I received in the mail, and here's what I found:
Thursday to Saturday, July 18-20: Simplicity $1.99
Thursday to Saturday, July 25-27: Burda $2.49
{{nothing about Vogue patterns}}
Blessings and peace...
Hi Sandra.
ReplyDeleteI think some stores do different sales than others, and that's probably why your flyer doesn't mention the Vogues. But you can go onto their website (http:/www.joann.com) and click on the current flyer and look at everything in there.
I haven't been paying that much attention lately, because I'm planning on drafting my own, but I think they used to alternate. One flyer would have Butterick one week, and maybe McCalls the next, then the next flyer would have Simplicity one week and Vogue the next. Generally each company had a sale every month. Looking at an old add, they had Vogue $3.99 June 16-22, so that's about a month.
As we talk more, I'll find out more... but if you want to just copy design features from the patterns and know what you're doing or have a fairly good flat pattern book, you can go onto the BMV website and print the line drawings from the back of the envelopes to give you ideas. For sewing instructions though, it's a figure it out or buy the pattern. HTH!
Hi Lynda, Thanks for adding to my understanding (or confusion LOL). So I just looked at the online flyer and I didn't see anything about Vogue patterns on sale there either. So are you saying that an individual store can put them on sale and the only way to know is to go into the store? That's crazy!
DeleteWell, as far as copying design features, you had me at "know what you're doing" haha! That is a good idea, though, and I'm going to keep it in mind as something to aspire to. That's one of the things I love about sewing: lifelong learning. Really!
If you have an Iphone -- or maybe others -- you can download the JoAnn's app to your phone. Someone at Joann's helped me do it one day when I was there. INSTANT coupons!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Joy
Hi Joy, Thanks; this is a great idea for those that have smart phones. Mine is an older one, which I'm hoping will last me for many more years.
DeleteHey Sandra, You can go to PatternReview and read the Patterns and Notions thread. There is a sticky topic there titles ?pattern sales I believe, and I add the dates to my calendar each month or so. Someone lists JA and hancocks, and misc sales.
ReplyDeleteMary!!! That is SO fantastic to hear! I just checked it out and saved the link. This is really going to be a big help to me. I don't get there very often, excuse me, didn't get there very often, but I will now be checking PR on a regular basis. YIPPEE! Oh and did you see that there's a sale tomorrow July 28 -- 70% off items on the "notions wall." Of course at our Joann's, notions are all over the place, or to say it more nicely, on multiple walls and other spaces. So I'm not sure if needles, for example, are included. Thanks again!
DeleteI'm new at this, but I got on the McCalls' website and they have sales online. Then you never have to leave home for patterns.
ReplyDeleteHi Vanessa and welcome to my little blog! Thanks for leaving this very helpful comment. I usually go to the store, but once winter comes, I don't want to leave home for anything! I'm going to remember this. Thanks again!
DeleteOh Sandra! Just join the BMV Club online! (http://clubbmv.mccall.com/)They have the best pattern sales and allthe brands go on sale all the time . Just sign up for the Emails.Even with the shipping costs, it's still really worth it.
ReplyDeleteHi Diana, How did you know I've been thinking about doing this? But I'm trying to make it harder to buy patterns, not easier! I had gotten to the point that I had hundreds of patterns, really, hundreds. I sold a few and donated a lot. A lot. I'm now at about 70, I think. Aw, what the heck, I think I'll check out the BMV Club... I will have you to {{blame}} thank. ;)
DeleteGracefully written information on this blog are going to support me for my coming assignments. Every point was very clear and taught me few new parameters. I would like to use this information in coming future.
